Transformation sequence
No magical girl game is complete without the ability to transform! Facing a tough boss battle? Or need some extra power to clear an obstacle while exploring? Or just wanna show off? Now it's possible to transform!
After pressing the transform button, you will enter a short casting animation wherein you gather the power necessary to transform. During this time, if you play in co-op, the second player can also join the transformation sequence.
Afterwards, the screen transitions to a transformation cutscene (However, this cutscene is still something I have to create, so in the meantime it's temporarily skipped). After the cutscene, the game screen fades in again, and you are now wearing your new transformation outfit!
Transformation is your gateway to being able to cast spells! Later on, when the game's core mechanics are working as desired, I will start working on the spellcasting system.
Custom keybinds
Until now, the default keys were W to jump, E to attack, T to initiate transformation, and the arrow keys to move around. Now, it's possible to rebind the default controls.
Multiple monitor co-op
The co-op feature previously had a splitscreen and local network. If you have a computer with multiple monitors, it's now possible to play co-op over both monitors!
With this feature, both players can enjoy full-screen gameplay instead of having to share the same screen split into two sections. This is greatly beneficial to some of the content in the game, for example bossfights where the boss moves around a lot or shoots bullets from offscreen, so you can respond quicker to attack patterns.
Of course, not everyone has multiple monitors, so regular splitscreen co-op always stays available as an option too.

More magical girls
If you thought there were only two girls (one for each player), you're in for a surprise!
While the first two girls are the main protagonists in the storyline, the other girls fulfill an important part of the main storyline too.
These mysterious girls will be encountered at some point within the storyline, and initially controlled by the game. When the player finishes the main storyline and enters the post-game, these girls become unlockable. All girls are equal in power, but have their own personalities.

Attack animations
I've also been working on attack animations. Since there are multiple girls and two outfit sets (one for the untransformed state, and one for the transformed state), aswell as multiple frames within an animation, creating a new animation takes a lot of time and effort. Nevertheless, my goal is for the player to have plenty of options available when it comes to controlling their character!
Currently, I have added the punch and kick animations. This actually allows the player to fight back against monsters.

Themes
Aside from the current Beach theme, I also created the basics for the Plains and Ice themes to have some variety. But many more will come in the future!
I hope this gives insight in my current progress with the game!
